The German community of Obermaiselstein consists of several districts, where a total of about a thousand people live permanently. The key word here is ‘permanently’ because several hundred thousand temporary residents, also known as tourists, visit these regions annually.

We are looking at the Ried district, from the southeastern district of Niederdorf. The camera is installed in Berwanger Hof. The ski slopes are in the northern part of Obermaiselstein, but travelers usually stay in the southern regions. In many ways, this is due to the magnificent views of Oberallgäu. In the background, we can see the slopes of Öksenberg and Gaißwiedenkopf. Highway OA5, leading to the village of Tiefenbach, passes between these two mountains and through the Ried district.

The Ried district was founded by farmers, from the Lech Valley, in the 17th century.
