Oberstdorf. Hotel Viktoria Oberstdorf
We are going to the northern suburb of Oberstdorf, the village of Rubi. It is located at the foot of the eponymous mountain, Rubihorn. At first glance, it seems that just forests and fields are next to Rubi, but this impression is deceptive. Just behind the forest patch, in the background of the image, the center of Oberstdorf is hidden, and behind it, we can see the peaks of Himmelschrofen and Alpgundkopf. The height of these mountains is roughly comparable to Rubihorn, the highest point of which is 1,957 meters above sea level.
Tourists who stay at Rubi can have a look at the consequences of the mountain collapse that occurred on July 9, 1987, on the northern side of Rubihorn. Huge boulders slid into the valley, many of them flew almost to the foot of the mountain. In the summer, on the slopes of Rubihorn, you can walk to the beautiful mountain lake, Unterer Gaisalpsee.
Oberstdorf is not only a popular ski resort, but also a major sports center in southern Germany. So, it is surprising to see no golf club in the fields.
The four-star Viktoria Oberstdorf Hotel, like many other accommodation options in Oberstdorf, has its own restaurant and spa center. The cheapest room for two costs 135 euros per day.
