Oberstdorf. Springboard Stadium

The stadium with a springboard, in the southern suburb of Oberstdorf, is named after the German architect and ski jumper, Heini Klopfer. Today, the Heini Klopfer Springboard is one of the largest in the world. The hill size (this is the point on a slope where it has an incline angle of 32°) is 225 meters. This indicator can be compared with the largest ski jumps in Norway, Austria and Slovenia.

The starting point is built over the hill and because of the similarity, it received the unofficial name of the Pisa Tower of Oberstdorf. Up to 100 people can get to the tower at the same time. The lift is designed for carrying up to 11 skiers with equipment.

The first springboard on this site was built in the middle of the last century. Then, the wooden structure was designed by Heini Klopfer. It is interesting that the architect made the first test jump on his own trampoline. The tower with the launch pad appeared 23 years later, in 1973. The last reconstruction was carried out at the stadium in 2016-2017. The hill size was increased by 12 meters at that time.

The camera shows us not only the springboard itself, but also the stadium with new stands.
