Oberwiesenthal. Himmelsleiter Station

From the top of Fichtelberg, we are looking at the cable cars of Oberwiesenthal Ski Resort. On the far side of the image, you can see the territory of the Czech Republic, and at the foot of the mountain are the hotels and other tourist infrastructure of the German border resort.

The main objects on the screen are the funiculars. One of them not only brings tourists to the top of Fichtelberg, but is also a monument of architecture. Fichtelberg Schwebebahn was built in 1924 and, since then, has retained many elements of the original design, such as the supports you see on the screen.

Parallel to the historic cableway, the four-seat chairs of Vierersesselbahn, built in 1999, travel to the top of Fichtelberg. It is much more convenient to travel with skis or a snowboard on these chairs, so there is no competition between the ski lifts. One is used as part of a ski resort, and the second is used as an elevator to the popular Saxon summit.

A day ticket to all lifts in Oberwiesenthal, during the winter months, costs 26 euros. If you are not interested in winter sports, then you can buy a one-way ticket for seven euros.
