Jakarta, the capital city of the Republic of Indonesia and the largest city in the country, is located on the northwest coast of the island of Java. It is a giant metropolitan area, known to be the second largest in the world.
From here we can see the famous Istiqlal Mosque and the Jakarta Cathedral, both on the top-list of the main landmarks of the city.
This webcam is located in the central part of Jakarta, so called Jakarta Pusat, with its numerous administrative and financial institutions, enormous shopping malls and prestigious hotels (like Kempinski, Hyatt and Mandarin Oriental).
City’s central square is called Merdeka Square. Here stands one of the main tourist attractions of the city, the National Monument, a 132 metres high tower. Around the square, in the shadow of the beautiful green parks, you can see the President Residence and the House of Government of Indonesia.
