Ripalimosani. Piazza San Michele
We are in the atmospheric town near Campobasso. A stone town on a high rock is fascinating and looks especially impressive from the outside. It is home to only 3,000 people, but thanks to the stunning architecture of the community, the central streets are busy and noisy in high tourist season.
Ripalimozani history begins in the fifteenth century with the construction of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. We can see the high bell tower of the church, which is installed at Piazza San Michele. Outside the church you can see the various bas-reliefs, including those representing the devil, and the interior, in the baroque style, has carved wooden elements. A copy of the famous Turin Shroud of Christ has been kept in this church from the eighteenth century.
Another attraction of Ripalimozani is Palazzo del Marchese Ricardo, located behind the church. Originally built as a castle, the palazzo had never been a defensive construction, as mostly notaries and bureaucrats of the village worked here. Only the impressive base remains from the castle, the inner courtyard and the interiors of the palace are made in the style of the sixteenth century. The interior is perfectly preserved to our day and the purple-red furniture is in excellent condition.
