Stresa. View of the Alps from Mount Mottarone
Due to its availability, the top of the Italian mountain, Mottarone, is now a popular tourist destination. There are only a few places where you can find such a universal mountain, where hotels are located, as well as an amusement park, restaurants, parking lots, observation platforms, cableways, ancient buildings, and a high tower with antennas.
All year round, thousands of tourists come to Mottarone to enjoy Alpine views, ski or bike (depending on the season), get their adrenaline rush on the Alpyland sled track, and spend the night at an altitude of more than 1,400 meters above sea level. For example, a night for two in the cozy hotel, Albergo Casa Della Neve, costs only 75 euros.
Some time ago, only local farmers knew about the mountain. A hundred years ago, only sheep, goats, cattle and horses were walking on the slopes of Mottarone. Roads and funniculars appeared there in the middle of the 20th century, when tourism began to develop in the villages at the foot of the mountain.
It is interesting that in 1911, the resort of Stresa and the summit of Mottarone were connected by a cog railway with trains on the electric drive, the first in Italy.
