Venice. The Coast of the Island of Murano
Only a few tourists who have visited Venice know that there are several interesting areas around the main island in the Venetian lagoon. The tourists who have already been there, usually come again.
The camera is set on the coast of the northern island of Murano. It is one of the largest in the lagoon. The first settlements appeared here in the fifth century BC, and the flourishing of the island was at the end of the thirteenth century, when Murano became one of the centers of production of the famous Venetian glass. Afterwards, the worldwide known Murano glass appeared there.
Surprisingly, the island is now home to 5,000 people, but a few centuries ago there were about 30,000 local people.
The camera is set in the famous lighthouse of Murano and directed toward the main islands of the lagoon; the island of Venice is seen in the background. We can see a lot of old houses built on the southern coast of the island.
