Visp. Visp Railway Station

In front of you is a modern station in the Swiss city of Visp, built in 2007. Today it is one of the ten busiest railway stations in the whole country. About 340 trains stop daily in Visp, and the number of passengers exceeds 60 thousand.

The black glass facade of the station, which you can see on the right side of the screen, reflects the high Alpine mountains. It is interesting that the architects took into account this natural pattern when they built a new railway station. The four-story building of the station won the FLUX award just after its opening in 2007.

The construction of the station was timed to coincide with the opening of the Lötschberg Tunnel. This tunnel was opened in the same year, and its total length is 34.5 kilometers. About 110 trains, the fastest of which develop a speed of up to 250 kilometers per hour, pass through it every day. Lötschberg is located between Frutigen, Bern, Raron and Valais.
