In front of us is Picton city, situated at the foot of Mount Pleasant. There is a major transportation node of New Zealand and a ferry route to the North of the island, to the city of Wellington, laid across the Cook Strait, as well as one of the country’s major highways and railroads.

With a population of slightly more than 4,000 people, Picton is the second in the region after the city of Blenheim.

On the camera video you can clearly see Cape Victoria Domain, stretching into the Gulf for several kilometers. Behind it you can see the small island of Cape Allports, which is unique because it is almost the only island of its kind in all the bays of Marlborough.

It’s worth mentioning that the city of Picton is, in fact, the main place of celebration for various major events in the region. Despite the fact that the administrative center of the region is Blenheim, Picton became the unofficial capital due to the activity of the authorities and local population — there are popular diving centers, fishing is very popular, etc.
