Muscat. The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque
This webcam is located in beautiful Muscat. This ancient city is surprisingly green though it lies in a desert, where every rain drop is a treasure. It is difficult to imagine how hard people of Oman had to work to achieve such wonderful results.
Objective captures the central part of the city with modern office buildings and hotels. Many of them are decorated in oriental style, but none can be compared with the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in its beauty and dimensions.
The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is the third-largest mosque in the world. It was built in 2001 by Sultan Qaboo’s order and now bear his name. The major attraction is a part of the interior — the prayer carpet that weighs 21 tonnes. Just imagine now, that 600 skillful spinners from Iran worked four years to spin it. Isn’t this beautiful carpet a sure “must see”?
