Angra do Heroísmo. The Bay

In front of us is the bay of the city of Angra do Heroísmo. In the center of the image, we can see the marina where private vessels stop. On the left is a small sandy beach. The panorama of the waterfront is composed of two images, allowing you to see the entire bay.

Baía de Angra do Heroísmo has historical significance. Since the fifteenth century, the bay has served as a shelter for ships carrying valuable goods. Here, they were provided with an escort in order to get to the mainland safely.

Just behind the camera is the ancient fortress of St. John the Baptist, one of the main attractions of the island of Terceira, built almost four hundred years ago.
