Calheta. Harbor

The Portuguese resort of Calheta is located on the south coast of the island of São Jorge. Tourism here is mostly domestic. Beach lovers will be disappointed by the rocky coast, but for the Portuguese, spoiled by the ideal beaches on the mainland, the Azores are an ideal place for privacy.

In clear weather, the neighboring island of Pico and the peak of the mountain of the same name are clearly visible in the background. Tourist trails are laid to this peak, which has the best viewing platform in the Azores.
