One of the most “wild” Azores, São Jorge, is next to Pico and Terceira. In fact, the whole island is one big rock, and only a few coastal zones have a convenient landscape for building.

In front of us is a small settlement on the north coast of San Jorge. Houses are built on both the mountain and at the ocean. Bad access to water is more than offset by the natural beauty of the Norte Grande, which can be estimated thanks to this webcam. Tourists who want to swim can use stairs, located in several zones, specially adapted for swimming.

The main enterprise of Norte Grande is the dairy, which provides the whole island with its products.

The Azores are connected not only by sea, but also by air. On the opposite side of São Jorge is the airport, Aeródromo de São Jorge (SJZ). From here, there are daily SATA flights to the islands of Terceira and San Miguel.
