Vila do Corvo. Panorama of the Coast

The camera on the slope of the volcano of Caldeirão is directed towards the only village on the island of Corvo, Vila do Corvo. The entire south coast of the island is occupied by the airport, Aeródromo do Corvo. If you carefully watch the picture on your screen, airplanes may freeze for a few seconds.

To get here from Lisbon, you will have to pay about 250 euros with a flight change on the island of Faial. It is interesting that the history of the smallest of the Azores began in the eighth century, when it was noticed by the Genoese seafarers during informal reconnaissance.

In the Middle Ages, like other Portuguese islands, Corvo was actively engaged in whaling. The local population is still actively engaged in fishing and agriculture, and also develops tourism on the island.

In the lower left corner of the image, you can see the port of the island, and among the dense urban buildings there are several historical quarters worth seeing while visiting Vila do Corvo.
