This webcam is turned in the direction of Priyut 11 (Refuge of the 11), while the severe summit of Mount Elbrus can be observed behind. Those who want to win the top of this mountain, can get to Priyut 11 by snow groomer and then they will have to continue by foot. Distance between the highest ski station and the peak of Elbrus comprises about 4 kilometres!

Few of us have not heard about this mountain. Mount Elbrus the highest mountain in Russia and in Europe, and represents one of the world’s most popular destination for professional mountaineers and tourists. The first successful ascend of the lower east summit took place 1829 and was made by one of the guides of the Russian Academy of Science. Since the end of the 1980-s there has been held the famous “Elbrus Race”, which is a speed race competition with a choice of two routes, the classic and extreme.

Today there are 10 official routs leading to the top of Elbrus. One of them is passing the station with this webcam. It is planned to build one more lift, which will connect the eastern summit of the mountain with the station Garabashi.
