The place is also known for being located quite close to the main and most visited in the county ski resorts of Jasná, which have a total of more than 40 lifts on all sides of the Chopok Mountain.

The ski resort of Jasná joined in Krakow’s request to host the 2022 Winter Olympics as the alpine skiing venue, but its request was rejected by the Poles in a national referendum in May 2014. It could have been the first time in the history, that Olympic Games were held in different countries at the same time.
