Kamnik. Village of the Shepherds

A large tourist complex near the Slovenian town of Kamnik includes both traditional leisure activities, such as skiing or hiking, and unusual entertainment. We are located in the so-called Village of Shepherds, one of the largest settlements of this type in all of Europe.

The village is distinguished by its authentic architecture (pay attention to the roofs of the houses, covered with pine tiles). You can observe lives of shepherds from June to September. In the local improvised restaurant, you will be offered a variety of dairy products or a traditional shepherd’s lunch, including dairy dishes and buckwheat porridge.

Travelers will have to make a little effort to get to the unusual village. First, they have to get to the upper station of the cableway, then walk to the top of the mountain along gentle slopes. It will take about 30 minutes.

In Velika Planina, you should also visit the Church of Panny Marie Sněžné, the Prescar Museum, Vetrnica and Divja Griča caves, as well as other sights of Kamnik.
