Hawaii Island. The Mauna Loa Observatory

These five webcams are installed on the territory of the Mauna Loa Observatory, which is located on the slope of the active Hawaiian volcano with the same name.

Observatory’s main work since 1960-s has been to monitor and collect information about changes in atmosphere. Level of carbon dioxide is known to be the main indicator in this context.

The Mauna Loa Solar Observatory (webcam 3) is also situated here.

The peak of the Mauna Loa volcano and its southeastern slope belong to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which was established almost about 100 years ago.
