New York City. Brighton Beach. The Riegelmann Promenade

The camera in the Brighton Beach area is in front of the famous Riegelmann Promenade, located on the embankment of the Lower Bay. The promenade, also known as the boardwalk and the promenade of Coney Island, was named after the American Democrat, Edward Riegelmann.

The development of this area of Coney Island in Brooklyn was rapid, at the beginning of the last century. The local beach was very popular, but had practically no infrastructure. Even with the advent of hotels and baths, the situation has not improved much because the establishments began to fence the territory right by the water, closing free access to the beach.

The situation changed radically in the1920s. It was then that Edward Riegelmann was the president of Brooklyn and put the embankment in order. Coastal territory became the property of the city, and access to water was open to everyone.

The swivel camera features the Steeplechase Pier and the wide beach of Brighton. Several large entertainment and sports complexes are near the pier. They follow each other: the Abe Stark Sports Center, the Brooklyn Cyclone baseball stadium, several lunaparks and the New York Aquarium.
