New York City. City Panorama from Brighton Beach
We are at the crossroads of Neptune Avenue and Brighton 3rd Street. The rotary camera is installed in the tall building of the Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. From its upper floors, you can see not only the northern part of Brighton Beach and all of Brooklyn, but also remote boroughs like Staten Island.
When the camera is directed strictly north, the first thing we can see is the hospital of the Coney Island Peninsula. You can easily distinguish its building among others by the characteristic cubic construction on the roof. When the camera is turned to the west, the residential development of the peninsula sweeps past us. The most interesting view is the one of Abraham Lincoln High School and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, located in the background.
One of the world’s largest suspension bridges connects the boroughs of New York to Brooklyn and Staten Island. The bridge, with the central span length of 1.3 kilometers, was erected in several stages at the turn of the 50’s and 60’s of the last century. First, the basic structure was constructed and, in 1969, the lower level. Thus, they managed to place 6 traffic lanes on the two-story bridge.
The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge is known all over the world, as it can be seen from almost anywhere in New York. And, the famous New York Marathon, held annually since 1970, starts here.
