In places like Altenmarkt im Pongau, everything is about skiing: mountains, slopes and lifts. Just a couple of facts about this ski resort. First, it is the birth place of the 2003 world champion and the silver medalist of the 2006 Winter Olympics in mountain skiing, Michael Walchhofer. And secondly, the head office of Atomic, the famous brand which produces ski equipment and equipment for snowboarding, is located here.

This resort is part of Altenmarkt Zauchensee ski area, which has huge resources. But Altenmarkt has only 17 kilometers of tracks, which are good for beginners and not very experienced skiers. More confident skiers usually choose the slopes located a little further away.
