Ellmau. Hartkaizer

The ski resort of Ellmau is located in the southwestern part of the village, on the slopes of Mount Hartkaizer. Periodically, in the air above the top of this mountain, rises an overview webcam, the image from which you can see now on your screen. Hartkaizer is a whole entertainment complex, not just the top station for several ski lifts.

At the top, located at an altitude of 1,533 meters above sea level, you can find a restaurant with an outdoor terrace, children’s playgrounds (especially relevant in the summer months), a small reservoir, and interesting hiking trails that appear after the snow melts.

At the peak of Hartkaizer, not only is a Catholic cross installed, but there is also a high viewing platform, from which amazing Alpine landscapes (mountains, valleys, pastures) are seen.

Until 2015, Hartkaizer could be reached by Hartkaizerbahn Railway, on which the first trip took place on November 30, 1972. The cars of that lift could carry up to 161 passengers at a time. Today, a modern gondola cab funicular runs from Ellmau.
