Obertauern. Grünwaldkopf Station
Due to its favorable location, Obertauern is one of the most popular resorts of Salzburg. Cable cars are built on all mountains surrounding the community. Now, we are going to Grünwaldkopf Station, located north of Obertauern on the slopes of Seekarspitze.
This intermediate station of the ski resort is known for its beautiful Lake Grunwald, you can see it on your screen. There are several funiculars around the lake, as well as restaurants, children’s playgrounds and other infrastructure.
Since the community has long been housing fans of skiing, the Grünwaldkopf cable car has been rebuilt and modernized several times. The first lift appeared on this site in 1952. Today, the modern Doppelmayr funicular, with 8 and 10 cabins, operates here.
In the north, apart from the oval lake, we can see Seekarspitze, which is 2,350 meters above sea level. Silver had been mined on this mountain for several centuries, but ended at the beginning of the 20th century.
