Athis-Mons. Place du Général de Gaulle

The municipality of Athis-Mons was formed in 1817 after the merger of two villages. Not far away, on the way to Paris, which is only 12 km from Athis-Mons, there is Paris-Orly Airport, built in the early 1960’s.

The camera is installed in the City Hall, in front of Place du Général de Gaulle. On the right side, there is Mairie — Centre administratifthe, which is the municipal authority, and on the left, there is Salle Curie, a guest house of the city administration. It is intended for the delegations, that come to the city .

In general, a lot of municipal buildings, such as schools and kindergartens, as well as the large park of d’Avaucourt, where locals often spend weekends, are concentrated around the square. Local artists perform on the stage of Théâtre de verdure almost every day. Despite the fact that the park is split up by the multiband road of Avenue Aristide Briand, there is almost no noise in the park, because the intensity of the traffic here is very low.

In the square, there is a stele, dedicated to General de Gaulle, who has become a symbol of the French Resistance during the Second World War.
