Eagle’s Nest, built between 1937 and 1938 by the Nazis, is a mountain restaurant on top of Kehlstein. The restaurant is located at an altitude of 1,834 meters above sea level. Eagle’s Nest is listed in the guidebooks as Hitler’s Tea House, although the Fuhrer came here only about 10 times, while he constantly criticized the safety of the lift.

A steep serpentine leads to the top of Kehlstein, along which is a breathtaking adventure to move. Then, tourists need to use the elevator located at the end of a long marble tunnel.

From November to April, the Eagle’s Nest is closed to visitors. It is interesting that, after the war, this restaurant became available to visitors in 1952, while neighboring areas, with other attractions, remained closed until 1996, due to being in the zone of American occupation.

The panoramic camera shows us the famous restaurant, on the edge of the abyss, as well as Berchtesgaden, at the foot of Kehlstein. On a clear day, you can see the outlines of Salzburg from the Kehlsteinhaus observation deck.
