Garmisch-Partenkirchen District. Eibsee-Seilbahn lift on Mount Zugspitze

Eibsee-Seilbahn Cableway, leading to the top of the Zugspitze, appeared on the slopes of the highest mountain in Germany in 1963. When it became outdated, a new lift was built here in 2017.

Previously, it could carry up to 44 people to the top of the mountain at the same time. With the development of the ski resort, its capacity became insufficient. Zugspitze needed a new modern lift, which they began to build in 2014.

The new cableway has the highest supports in the world (about 130 meters). Eibsee-Seilbahn cost is estimated at 50 million euros. A day ticket for all the lifts of the Zugspitze ski area is about 50 euros, depending on the time of year.

Periodically, some cableways of the resort are closed for repairs or simply do not work because of bad weather, so it is best to monitor the status of all lifts and runs on the Zugspitze website.
