Oberstdorf. Trettachtal Valley
Trettaсhtal Valley is located between the high mountains south of Oberstdorf, close to the border with Austria. The river, Trettach, flows all along the valley. Several roads and trails for travelers, who prefer to travel on foot, run along the river.
At the foot of the mountain, on the slope of which this camera is set, is a meeting place for tourist groups with big backpacks. All of them use the European walking path E5. This route connects the Atlantic coast of France and the most northern Italian Adriatic. In the valley, you can find a beautiful lake, Kristlesse, which does not freeze, even in winter, because there are many water sources maintaining a constant temperature in the lake of 4 ° C.
In the foreground, we can see the guest house, Gasthof Gerstruben. Such houses in the mountains are usually rented by the local youth and large families for their holidays. The house is open daily from 9 am to 6 pm and offers drinks from local breweries, as well as the famous German meatloaf. You can stay a little longer if you pre-book the guest house. The hotel was built in 1953 on the site of an old mountain hut, at an altitude of 1145 meters above sea level.
