Ermoupoli. Embankment and Port

We are now looking at the embankment and port of Ermoupoli, which is a principal town on the island of Syros. Ermoupoli is famous as an old shipbuilding center and as a popular seaside resort. A twenty-four-hour ferry connection with neighboring islands and continental Greece are essential for the entire tourist industry on this island.

This webcam is located on the embankment Akti Ethnikis Antistaseos, in a very busy place, nearby interesting tourist attractions like the Church of Ekklisia Panagia and Casino Syros.

On the territory of the port, we can see a large building. Today it hosts several institutions, from the Pinakothiki Kikladon Museum, to customs station, yacht club, cafe and even a hotel.

Ermoupoli is not so perfect for a lazy beach holiday. It attracts people who prefer active vacation and various water sports. If you need to spend a day or two in a sunbed, you can always visit one of the numerous beaches on the western side of Syros.
