Marlengo. Panorama of Merano

We are looking at the town of Merano from the small mountain village of Marlengo, built on a hillside. The village is famous for its vineyards and apple orchards, sprawling over 600 hectares. In 2008, the fruit harvest was 48,000 tons.

While traveling to the north of Italy, you can find many villages with ancient architectural masterpieces. In Marlengo, with its modest population of 2,500 people, its biggest attraction is the parish church, first mentioned in the documents of 1166. Now, it is a neo-Gothic church with a bell tower and a rich interior.

Lebenberg Castle is located just a few kilometers from Marlengo, on the slope of the mountain of the same name. It was built in the thirteenth century by Lord Marling, but then passed from one family to another. The descendants of the Dutchman, who bought the castle in the beginning of the last century, live there now. In the non-residential part of the castle is a museum with a collection of medieval weapons.
