Verbania. Lago Maggiore
Italy is popular with tourists from all over the world, thanks not only to its southern seaside resorts but also to the north where there are several large, famous lakes. This camera, in the city of Verbania, shows us one such freshwater reservoir. Lago Maggiore is a lake along which the border between the Italian regions of Piedmont and Lombardy is laid, as well as the state border with Switzerland.
The camera is installed in the Pallanza area, near the waterfront of the resort. Behind the lake, in the background of the image, are high Alpine peaks, for example, Mount Massone (2,161 meters) and the peak of Proman (2,098 meters), as well as Montorfano, which is 794 meters above sea level and located near the extreme western point of the lake.
The camera represents only a small part of a huge lake, Lago Maggiore, stretched from north to south for 66 kilometers. The maximum width of the lake is 10 kilometers, and the total area is 212.5 km², with a depth of 272 meters. At the bottom of the screen, you can almost always see yachts, sailboats and other vessels, many of which are used to participate in various regattas held on the lake.
It’s interesting that the shoreline of Lake Maggiore is the lowest point in Switzerland.
