Vilnius. Hales Market
Hales market (“Hales Turgus” in Lithuanian) is one of the largest and oldest markets in Vilnius. Constructed in 1906 by a famous architect and engineer Vaclovas Michnevicius, it was reconstructed in 2006, but there were made no changes to its conceptual design.
Hales market is located in the Old town and represents one of its notable attractions. The Marketplace has always been popular among the residents of the city and its guests for fresh products and home manufactured goods. Nearby we can find several hotels, restaurants and cafes.
Behind the building of the market stands the statue of Taras Shevchenko. In the background, we can see the towers of All Saints Church and Saint Catherine’s Church, which are among the most visited religious attractions of Vilnius.
