A rare tourist gets to the northern beach resorts of Europe. If you are tired of excursions around famous Dutch cities, go to Northern Holland, where beach pavilions along the coast of the North Sea are available in the summer. One of them, we can see on the screen; it is De Schelp in Egmond aan Zee. The nearest large city, Alkmaar, which is connected with the capital of the country by the railway, is just 10 kilometers from the coast.
Broadcasting is held from the De Schelp summer terrace. In front of us are cafe tables under sun shades, and behind them is a huge sandy beach and the North Sea. Most of the tourists, who you can see on the screen, are from neighboring cities. Such resorts are meant to develop domestic tourism, both in North Holland and in all of the Netherlands.
In the summer season, Cafe de Schelp is open daily from 9 am. Here, you can have excellent coffee in the morning and unforgettable dinner on the beach in the evening. Prices are slightly higher than in urban restaurants. For example, a fish sandwich costs € 10.50.
On weekends, a lot of tourists come to the beach, so you’d better book a table in the pavilion in advance. This can be done on the official website of De Schelp.
