Verbier. Médran District
Médran is the southern region of the Verbier resort. Here is the lower station of the ski lift and a sports center, where you can rent not only skis and snowboards, but also a bike to ride on the alpine slopes, during the summer months. In addition, several hotels were built right at the funicular station, including the elite W Verbier.
Médran Sports Center has been operating in the resort since 1972. Throughout the year, tourists can use the services of the center, which organizes walking tours on the slopes of the Alps, both in the summer months and the winter, when travelers explore the area on snowshoes.
Two high-speed lifts operate in Médran. The cable car with six-seater cabins, Médran 1 was opened in 1984 and has a length of more than 1.5 kilometers. Vacationers can get from a height of 1.5 km above sea level, 700 meters upwards. The second modern 4-seater funicular was opened in 2001. 4-MGD Médran 2 was designed to reduce the load on the first cable car. It has increased the capacity of the Médran district by 1,100 people per hour.
