On the west coast of Pico, which you can see, are the most important infrastructure facilities of the island. Directly in front of us is the port through which the main cargo flows pass.

Not far from the coast are two small islands, Ilheu Deitado and Ilhéu em Pe. Along the entire coast and closer to the center of the island many cheap hotels have been built, as Madalena is a popular tourist destination. The airport of Pico is only nine kilometers away from Madalena, and along the way, guests of the island can look at the local vineyards.

In the distance, we can see another Azores island, Faial, which is divided from Pico by a narrow strait that is about eight kilometers wide. Faial was formed as a result of volcanic processes. The crater of the extinct Caldeira volcano, two kilometers in diameter, is in the very center of the island, and in clear weather, it can be seen on this webcam.

One of the most popular branches of the tourist business on the island is ecotourism, which includes a visit to wild, untouched-by-man nature.
